Saving St. Anselms

Yippee - I hope everyone knows that Bakewell’s little independent school on the hill has been saved - parents and locals - thank you.

So just when you might think I wouldn’t take on another ‘save the love locks’ project. I have stepped forward to lead the new trustees who have battled to save St.Anselms.

Can’t wait to fling open the gates - invite you all in - i am busy chatting to locals about how St.Anselms can become a place that enhances the lives of thousands of local adults and children.

The facilities are astounding - I am determined that they are shared -

I believe it can make a massive and positive contribution to Bakewell and the community.

I am so happy that so many local parents and their children attended our recent open day - “Step into St.Anselms” - we have raised money so that there are now bursaries available for local children - i was in the committee yesterday - and we made 16 offers to financially support local children.

It is happening.

Why this school - why me?

My children were ‘disappearing’ in the massive classes in our Sheffield state school. I found St.Anselms - we could afford to pay - in fact we offered to gift the state school money to fund extra teachers. We were turned away!

St.Anselms transformed the lives of our children - nurturing, individual, every extra need catered for - joyous, kindness, laughter, wonderful teachers and it goes without saying the best facilities i had ever seen.

I know first hand what this school can do - transformative - which is why i will look for every way to make sure it flourishes and raises money to support local children who need what it can offer.

Going to need some help - ideas and thoughts - oh…

we still have some funded spaces available - contact the school office - or apply on the St.Anselms website.

I really want to get a local gang together - help me to ensure that St.Anselms makes a difference in our community in many many ways. Join the gang?

All thoughts and ideas welcomed, email emma@thornbridge.co.uk

Final top tip - the pre-school bit of the school - has spare places - GOV Funding available - and as ever the facilities are second to none

YIPPPEE! Jim and me - yes the beard has become a permanent feature since the lockdown! Help!
