Our Mission

Our aim is to bring about lasting change in people’s lives, helping them to benefit from and contribute to society.

We achieve this by funding schools, groups and individuals to experience life-changing opportunities that raise aspirations and unlock and enable potential.

We believe in strengthening and connecting communities and making people feel valued through participation and inclusion.

The Inspiration behind the Foundation

I arrived at Thornbridge as a 15 year old. - accompanied by my youth worker, Donna. All sorts of stuff going on at home and school - both were places I avoided. Then I was introduced to Thornbridge - its magic worked on me - (plus some ‘no holds barred’ guidance from Donna!) and I dared to dream. I dreamt of a future in a house like Thornbridge surrounded by family and friends. Well, the hard-won fairytale came true - I walked through the doors of Thornbridge on May 2nd, 2002 as the new owner (Thornbridge was on its knees after years of neglect and abandoned rescue attempts).

So, nearly 20 years later and after a huge amount of restoration, Thornbridge is here forever.

My dream came true - the utter privilege of calling Thornbridge my home has inspired me to found the Thornbridge 4 Everyone Foundation which hopes to ignite the dreams of others.

A visit to Thornbridge can be transformational - improving lives - not everyone can afford to get here - or be able to afford to spend the day here and have a treat or two.

So, Thornbridge 4 Everyone makes grants to schools, groups and individuals to overcome those barriers.

This is in addition to the fact that Thornbridge itself is Free of Charge to all foster carers and their looked after children, Carers with the adult they care for. Plus… the wonderful Carriage House Ballroom is handed over to charities at least 5 times a year for their events - every penny raised going straight to the Charities.

Thornbridge 4 Everyone also engages children and adults from disadvantaged estates to create new sculptures for our gardens - working alongside and guided by professional artists.
