Meet the Maker…Our onsite baker..

Hello, My name is Eleanor and The Bakehouse-cakes,pies,puds is my bakery business which is situated on the Thornbridge Estate. I supply Quackers Cafe along with other Cafes and Deli’s in the Peak District and surrounding areas.

I have always had a huge passion for baking since a very young age. I decided to start my own business once I finished my Bakery Apprenticeship when I was 18. I started off working from my parents kitchen 8 years ago, and I’ve now moved into a brand new bakery here on the Thornbridge Estate and make over 5000 cakes a year!

I make all my cakes in single batches meaning quality and consistency is always maintained. As well  as cakes and tray bakes, another top seller are the sausage rolls that I make using Thornbridge Smallholding Gloucester Old Spot pork and my handmade all butter puff pastry; the perfect combination for the best sausage rolls! Be sure to try one in the cafe, or buy some to take home from the display freezer in the cafe.
