Craft Your Own Autumn Pumpkin

Discover the joy of pottery and craft a unique pumpkin masterpiece! Join us for a hands-on, three-hour workshop where you'll learn the art of pinch pot making and transform raw clay into a beautiful seasonal decoration. Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced potter looking to run with your own inspiration, this workshop is perfect for you.

Vicky, our tutor, will lead you through the entire process step-by-step, providing live demonstrations at every stage. You will start by mastering the pinch pot technique to create two separate bowls, which we will then join together to form a hollow sphere—the perfect base for your pumpkin or gourd. From there, you can add personal touches like a natural stem and realistic leaves or get creative with intricate surface patterns.

There are so many ways to make your pumpkin unique! You can add a pattern of holes to create a luminary that glows beautifully with a tealight inside or even carve a characterful face to turn it into a festive jack-o'-lantern. To bring your creation to life, you’ll have a choice of several vibrant glazes to finish your piece.

This workshop is designed for both beginners and those building on their pottery experience. All materials and equipment are provided, so you just need to bring along an apron if you wish to protect your clothes. Note that making a pinch pot is easier with shorter fingernails.

Please Note: Pottery is a slow and careful process, so your handcrafted pumpkins cannot be taken home on the day. They will need time to dry thoroughly before being fired and glazed. Your finished pieces will be ready to collect from the venue at your convenience approximately two to three weeks after the workshop.

Tickets include all-day garden entry and discount off lunch at Quackers Cafe
